NABMA’s Local Council Forum will be held at Bridgnorth on Friday 30 June 2017.
This year we are delighted that the Society of Local Council Clerks are again our partners in promoting this very popular Forum. Rob Smith, their recently appointed Chief Executive will also be present.
Aimed at Parish and Town Councils, the event also will be of interest to the principal councils exploring partnership arrangements in devolving services, and working in partnership, with local councils and local communities.
This year the venue is the beautiful award winning Shropshire market town of Bridgnorth. Bridgnorth is the proud winner of Best Market Town category in the Great British High Street Awards 2016/17 and winner of the Best Small Speciality Market category in the Great British Market Awards 2017. Bridgnorth has won many gold medals in the Heart of England in Bloom competition. There are shops and pubs and events galore and several markets – a livestock market and a Saturday street market as well as a permanent indoor market area and a Friday and Saturday Charter Market under the Town Hall. A private market also operates each Saturday and, through a Market Charter, a Craft Market is held on alternate Sundays during the summer months.
The Bridgnorth Programme 2017 includes presentations about the two major national awards that Bridgnorth has just received; a talk about the local markets and the very unusual legislation that regulates market activities. In addition there will be policy and operational updates from NABMA and an opportunity to ask market experts your burning questions. A visit to the market is included.
No delegate fee is charged and a buffet lunch is provided as part of our aim to involve more local councils in market management.
