Love Your Local Market 2013
Welcome to Love Your Local Market 2013

Now in it’s second year, we’re predicting that LYLM is going to be even bigger and better in 2013.
Eric Pickles, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government announced in the House of Commons in November that LYLM 2013, will run from 15th May to 29th May. He welcomed the support of the markets industry, which has set a target of 500 markets getting involved in this year’s events, in addition to 3,000 new traders.
The Campaign is co-ordinated by the Markets Alliance which comprises:-
Association of Town Centre Management
Association of London Markets
Country Markets
National Association of British Markets Authorities
National Farmers’ Retail & Markets Association
and supported by:-
Department for Communities and Local Government
Department for Environment Food & Rural Affairs
National Market Traders Federation
Local Government Association
National Association of Local Councils
This year there will be no National Market Day and the whole campaign will focus on Love Your Local Market. The fortnight of the campaign from the 15th to the 29th of May will provide an opportunity to provide a national spotlight on markets but I hope that markets will do things throughout the year to promote the theme of Love Your Local Market.
You can download the promotional brochure here which includes messages of support from Mark Prisk, DCLG Minister, Geraldine Carter, Nabma President and Julien Lewis, NMTF President. You will also find details of success stories of new traders and examples of how markets around the country celebrated Love Your Local Market.
Roadshows played an important part in launching LYLM this year and you will find in the brochure details of some of the Roadshows that we will be holding. A few more will be added over the next two or three weeks so please get the date in your diary now for a Roadshow coming near to you.
We will again be seeking to attract new market traders and I am delighted that our research has reported that LYLM introduced almost 2000 people to market trading and around 200 are still trading.Lets see if we can do better with LYLM 2013. The NMTF have generously agreed to help with insurance cover again so please watch out for details on how you can take advantage of this offer.
Social Media will also be an important part of our campaign so go to the Love Your Local Market Facebook page and start following @loveurlocalmkt on Twitter to keep up with what is happening around the country.
LYLM 2013 will be bigger and better if we all get behind the campaign. Make sure you are involved
