National recognition for Fleetwood Market
Tuesday 29 June 2010
Good news keeps on coming for Fleetwood Market.
Hot on the heels of achieving 100% occupancy, this much-loved shopping venue has become a national finalist in this year's Group Travel Awards.
Being nominated for these particular awards is that little bit more satisfying because they are voted for by the public, the people who have experienced the outlets for themselves and know what matters most.
Fleetwood Market, owned and operated by Wyre Borough Council, was up against stiff competition in the Best Market, Mill Shop or Factory Outlet category and although Oswaldtwistle Mills took the top honours, bosses are delighted to have been the only market in the country to make it through to the final.
Marketing Manager Julian Brent said: "It's a breath of fresh air to see that all the hard work we have put into customer service has been recognised by the public.
"While other markets are struggling and facing closure, Fleetwood Market is definitely bucking the trend, with an increase in trade and a move to extend our opening hours this winter to meet demand. Every stall is now occupied and we are fortunate to have a waiting list.
"People recognise that there is still a place for a traditional shopping experience which combines quality, value and a friendly welcome.
"And even though we didn't win the top award, everyone here is delighted at making it through to the final."
