Real Deal- Working Together for Fake Free Markets

Thursday 25 February 2010

As you know we have been supporting the Real Deal Campaign and a number of our members have already signed up to support this important initiative.

In order to provide an update on the progress of the campaign and provide additional information about how your markets can be part of Real Deal you are invited to attend a seminar which is being held on the 26th March. Full details are provided below with a link to register your interest. You will see this seminar is supported by Nabma and a range of other national organisations . There is no charge for the seminar and I hope there will be significant interest from our members.

Invite you to a seminar
Tackling counterfeiting in UK markets
Working together to protect a great British tradition
Supported by

10am – 2.30pm, Friday 26th March 2010
At the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), 12 Great George Street, London, SW1P 3AD
Consumers are increasingly exposed to the risk of harm from fake goods at UK markets, both physically through the sale of untested and dangerous products and financially by paying for shoddy, substandard items. An equally significant threat is posed to legitimate producers and retailers which cannot compete with counterfeiters and pirates, and are often forced out of business.

This event will bring together key stakeholders including policy makers, industry representatives, market operators, trading standards and enforcement bodies to discuss:

·         how counterfeiting is threatening the future of UK markets
·         examples of best practice from local authorities fighting back against counterfeiters
·         practical steps that can be taken to find a long term solution to the problem
·         how the Real Deal national markets' charter is helping market operators and local authority trading standards to keep illicit traders out of UK markets.

This seminar is free to attend. A buffet lunch and refreshments will be provided. To book your place at the seminar, or for further details, please contact Patricia Lennon on patricia.lennon@realdealmarkets.co.uk or call 01943 816292.
