Professor Allan Hallsworth, Advisor, UK Select Committee enquiry into markets was the key note speaker at the NABMA/WUWM Conference at the Barbican held on the 26th/27th June. Professor Hallsworth spoke about the social and business policies that need to be followed to ensure markets succeed and he highlighted the impact of the competition commission and how large supermarkets had influenced retail shopping. Professor Hallsworth was followed by a range of speakers who looked at the keys to strategic development and a range of case studies demonstrating how markets can provide socio, economic benefits and also providing the missing link to make markets successful. The speakers came from a range of different backgrounds including a range of European experiences from Spain, Holland and France.
