Chip & PIN helps bring home the Bacon!
Friday 01 August 2008
NABMA has received the press release from one of its corporate sponsors Chip and Pin
“The Bacon Stall really shows how well a professionally run stall can do – especially in these tough economic times.
The stall is owned by husband and wife team, Jo and Trevor Fuller who are dedicated to offering the very best produce at the best prices to their customers. They are also committed to giving their customers the best possible service which includes offering them the option of paying with a debit or credit card – something that more and more Market Traders are deciding to do.
Trevor and Jo have been running The Bacon Stall for nearly 10 years now. They specialise in selling only the finest, fresh, locally sourced produce and have built up a very loyal customer base at all of the markets they attend across Essex and Hertfordshire. Like most Market Traders, they work up to six days a week and have pitches at everything from weekly town markets to specialist Farmers Markets.
Things are going well for them and you only have to visit their stall to see why. They are clearly a couple with very high standards. Every part of their stall is bright, immaculate and clearly labelled. You really get the sense that they care passionately about what they do.
This attitude also extends to the area of customer service and finance which is why they happily accept payment by debit and credit card from their customers. “It is about offering a better service to our customers, but it’s also about us maximising our takings and profits – it’s a real win- win” commented Trevor.
“We looked into a few companies before deciding to go with Chip & PIN Solutions Ltd. Not only are they the market leaders but they really understand our business as most of their customers are also Market Traders. They are fully endorsed by both NABMA and the NMTF which gave us a lot of comfort knowing they were a company we could trust completely” added Jo.
Both confess to not being ‘techie’ type people so were naturally interested in going with a company that offered a simple service and one that could take all the hassle out of the process. “Chip & PIN solutions were great and held our hand all the way. They even took away all the hassle of the paperwork for us!” said Jo.
It was all much easier to set up and use than either had expected and after one or two test transactions they felt confident enough to start using the terminal with their customers.
It seems that taking plastic is not only good for customer service but is good for business too as they say that their takings have gone up by at least 10%! Trevor believes this is largely because people tend to spend a bit more than they would with cash as the outlay is less visible to them.
Chip & PIN Solutions are the UK’s leader in mobile secure card payment solutions. Their service is nationwide and their terminals are completely mobile. (So no messy wires or need for a phone line or power supply on your stall!) They have pioneered a simple service for market traders and offer a complete package with just one simple monthly payment which makes budgeting much easier. Takings are paid directly into your bank account in a maximum of only three days. The majority of their customers are market traders and they are fully endorsed and supported by both NABMA and the NMTF.
Trevor and Jo are optimistic about the future. “It’s tough for traders out there at the moment – but we’ve never been busier”.
Their combination of high quality products at the right price and their commitment to providing the very best service is continuing to prove a winning formula for The Bacon Stall. Offering their loyal customers the option of paying by debit and credit cards is all part of their success story and should demonstrate to all market traders that whatever you sell, Chip & PIN really can help bring home the bacon!
