Darlington Borough Council were the last of our winners to celebrate their award in a ceremony held at Darlington Town Hall. The award was received by the Leader of the Council from NABMA’s Chief Executive and the event was attended by The Mayor of Darlington and other Officers and Members. 
Peter Wilson, Markets Manager at Darlington, spoke about the pride of the whole town to be recognised by the award. Prior to the award ceremony Peter gave a presentation on the history of Darlington Markets which go back over a thousand years and the variety of the current markets offer which embraces retail markets, farmers’ markets, continental markets and other speciality market events. Also in attendance was Jeremy Bradin of KPR Midlink who sponsor Market of the Year.
