There was a large gathering of representatives of Borough Market and the press to see the award of Best Specialist Market to Borough Market at a ceremony last week. NABMA President Councillor John Gareth Jones, Oswestry, presented the award to George Nicholson of Borough Market and congratulated Borough Markets on their achievements. In addition to the NABMA award Borough Market has also received other prestigious awards, particularly a recent one from the London Evening Standard. In responding George Nicholson indicated his pleasure at the NABMA award, saying that Borough Market now felt able to take its place at the table of other well established markets throughout the country. Tributes were paid to the support of KPR Midlink, Competition Sponsors, and Bob Smith of KPR Midlink was there to join in the Award Ceremony.
