The Blackpool NABMA Conference this week enabled delegates to meet up again with the former General Secretary of NABMA John Edwards and his wife Jean. They are pictured with Past President Councillor Don Davies.

John Edwards holds a special place in the history of NABMA serving the Association for well over 30 years as a former Markets Manager at Wigan and then as General Secretary until his retirement in 2005. Jean was a most popular and loyal support to NABMA members with her management of the NABMA office and her organisation of annual conference and other NABMA events.

Both outgoing and incoming NABMA Presidents paid tribute to John and Jean. Councillor Don Davies confirmed that “John and Jean continue to be firm friends of NABMA and delegates were delighted to meet up with them again. They gave sterling service to NABMA and markets and their contributions to the success of NABMA must never be forgotten.”

The new NABMA President Councillor Gareth Jones endorsed the comments. “John and Jean were not only employees but also friends of so many market officers and elected councilors. We were all delighted to see them both at conference and share memories. NABMA wishes them both well in their well deserved retirement.”
