NABMA supports Stockton launch
Wednesday 19 September 2007
Graham Wilson, Nabma’s Chief Executive, was delighted to attend the launch of the revamped market at Stockton-on Tees during the recent traditional Market Fair week.
The official opening was performed by Walter Fox, a market trader who has traded on the market for sixty six years, and this was followed by a tour of the market which looked impressive in the autumn sunshine.
With a full market of 163 stalls the Stockton-on –Tees market is rightfully know as the “Queen of the North” and prior to the official opening Council Leader, Ken Lupton, spoke about the value of the market to the town and how the market gives impetus to the town.
Stockton-on-Tees is “passionate” about its markets and this was evidenced by the support given to the official opening and the way in which the Council is committed to making the market fit for 21st century purposes.
Another exciting feature of the day was the launch of a film illustrating the history of the market. Nabma members will have a chance of seeing the film and hearing from Sue Burgess, Town Centre Manager, about Stockton-on Tees market at Nabma’s “Streets Alive” seminar to be held at Birmingham on the 31st January.
