NABMA TO MEET YVETTE COOPER

Wednesday 30 May 2007

It is expected that Yvette Cooper, Minister of State covering Housing and Planning issue in the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister will be attending the All Party Parliamentary Group for Markets on the 18th June when she will be presented a copy of the Policy Framework Document on Markets as compiled by NABMA and partners, with assistance from Malcolm Veigas, Bradford and Krys Zsada, Manchester. The Minister remains in the same role at the newly formed Communities and Local Government from the 5th May, 2007.

The presentation will take place within “Markets Week”, an event that is being pushed by the All Party Parliamentary Group for Markets.

NABMA members can expect to receive their copy of the Policy Framework Document early in June and members are urged to contact their own Members of Parliament and work with Federation branches to maximise this publicity opportunity. NABMA would be delighted to welcome any examples of publicity which have already been arranged that we will be delighted to publicise as a promotion and to give a lead to other colleagues. NABMA Chief Executive, Graham Wilson, said “the Policy Framework Document will be a landmark for the market sector. This concise introductory framework will form the foundations for the market sector to build upon in terms of strategic development and to fit into wider stream agendas and policy frameworks. NABMA urges every member to maximise the publicity that can be gained from inviting their M.P. to their market during the week and to make a real statement about the value of markets within the U.K. and the many agendas that they meet.”
