Derby MP supports Market Week
Friday 22 June 2007
Derby MP Bob Laxton was one of the first supporters of Markets Week that commenced on the 18 June with the presentation of the Markets Policy Framework document to the All Party Parliamentary Group for Markets at Westminster.
Bob Laxton MP is pictured taking time out of his busy schedule to support local Market Traders in the Eagle Market to help promote the Great British Market week.
He is shown with Councillor John Ahern Ex-President of NABMA at the fruit and vegetable stall of Frank Woodhouse whose family have been in the Market for nearly 100 years.
NABMA Chief Executive Graham Wilson welcomed the support for Derby. “As a long and loyal supporter of NABMA we were delighted that Derby attracted a visit from their MP. The message is a consistent one across the country – markets are a community treasure but their relevance is now even more important in terms of the socio economic agendas and mainstream policies that they reach.”
