Welcome to JBS Waste Management Ltd
Tuesday 03 July 2007
NABMA is pleased to announce a corporate sponsorship promotion with leading waste management company JBS Waste Management Ltd. The partnership offers a new supplier of recycling and waste management services to the membership.
John Neill, Commercial Director of JBS Waste Management Ltd expressed his delight at the new partnership with NABMA. “I am proud to join the growing number of companies who have recently aligned themselves with NABMA recognising the exciting agenda it is pursuing in terms of being the voice of local authority markets and offering and introducing quality suppliers to its membership. My company can considerably assist NABMA and I greatly look forward to developing the partnership in the months ahead and meeting members. NABMA through its policy framework recognises environmental issues as being very important to markets in terms of responsibility and cost. Working together I believe we have exciting opportunities for mutual benefit and sharing and developing good practice.”
NABMA Chief Executive Graham Wilson confirmed the delight of NABMA in welcoming JBS Waste Management Ltd. “This is yet another example of NABMA taking a lead to offer its membership access to a company that understands market matters and the operational and resource burdens that are faced. One of the key areas, consistent to all our markets, large or small, are the management and risk involved in waste, recycling etc. I would encourage members to make contact with JBS to discuss their issues.”

Below is a press release from JBS Waste Management Ltd that provides background to both the company and the waste industry.
“ Since 2002 the EU landfill directive has lead to over 1300 separate pieces of legislation regarding waste disposal, minimisation and reuse being introduced to UK business. The knock on effective of this administration burden has been increased costs as the majority of waste disposal operator seek to capitalise.
With over 330 million tonnes of waste produced in the UK in 2005, the government have stated that landfill disposal is no longer an environmentally sound option. To ensure a significant amount of waste is being diverted from landfill, the UK is set to reach £100 per tonne Landfill Tax within the next 10 years. In addition to this massive increase, the introduction of such initiatives as pre-treatment legislation in October will have a negative impact on disposal costs.
The retail sector has long been a target for inflated waste disposal costs due to the so- called ‘problematic’ site logistics and the non recyclable waste streams involved. Too many retail/market operators are paying excessive waste costs because of the limited options available to them.
JBS Waste Management Ltd is unlike any waste company in the UK. Our business is your business. We specialise in providing cost effective recycling and waste management strategies to the retail/market sector. We understand every aspect of the waste issues which effect your business, from reaching demanding recycling targets to reducing excessive costs, JBS are on hand to provide expert guidance and advice.
Our unique fee structure has redefined the industry. JBS are not interested in skip margins or excessive miscellaneous invoices, our management fee is charged to the waste collector not our clients ensuring in all cases a reduction in costs. However JBS offer more than just cost savings :
National coverage from our state of the art call centre - providing extensive industry wide knowledge when you need it
Recycling strategies aimed at increasing recycling levels and where possible providing rebates for material. JBS recycled over 7000 tonnes of material in 2006 with partners in China, Hong Kong, India and in the UK. A high majority of waste is regated through our Materials Recycling Facility reducing further the % to landfill. Our aim is to achieve 0% to landfill by 2015.
JBS are at the forefront of waste to energy and alternative disposal initiatives such as composting. We now have more composting outlets nationally than any other waste management company in the UK.
JBS are the only waste management company in the UK to be approved by NABMA.
Full Duty of Care accountability. Every single JBS movement is subject to monthly audits allowing us to provide tailored management reports to our clients outlining exactly what percentage of waste was recycled and it’s final disposal points. We can even email you daily with the amount of tonnage disposed of from your site.
