Oswestry Live for Xmas
Friday 14 December 2007
NABMA President Councillor Gareth Jones attended the recent Oswestry Xmas Live event. The market town centre was turned into a funfair for the evening and numerous market, farmers’ market and charity stalls all contributed to the event.
On Festival Square a large stage pumped out live music from local bands and the Porthywaen Brass Band led the huge crowds in community singing of carols around the Christmas tree.
The event was promoted in conjunction with BBC Radio Shropshire and their presenter James Bond compered the evening.
Feedback from local shops and the local media has been overwhelming as to the success of the event.
NABMA President Councillor Jones said “I was delighted to attend the event in my home town as the NABMA President. The evening provided a focus for Oswestry in the county and across into Mid Wales with thousands of people enjoying an excellent evening that significantly boosted local tourism and the local economy.”
