Nabma Wholesale Forum Visits Bradford

Thursday 18 May 2006

The recent Wholesale Forum was held at Bradford. A large attendance visited the St. James’s Wholesale Market before a debrief and a full agenda of operational and policy related items.

The Bradford wholesale market enjoys a current 100% occupancy level, has 66 units and has recently completed a review of market rents following negotiations with the Tenants’ Association Valuers.

Colin Wolstenholme, Markets Manager, led a tour of the market and explained how organic waste will be separated from the general waste producing a significant cost saving to the Council.

The Markets service is currently procuring a mill sized baler with a view to producing and selling 500kg mill sized bales direct to the paper processors.

For details on Bradford market activities and initiatives contact Colin Wolstenholme on 01274 432245

Nabma wishes to thank the Bradford authority and its staff for the excellent visit as provided and for the accommodation and hospitality that was warmly received.
