Black Pudding Campaign
Wednesday 19 July 2006
Celebrity chef Andrew Nutter is backing a local campaign in his home town to find the finest Black Pudding recipe in Bury.
The competition is supported by Chadwick’s Black Puddings who will kindly be supplying puddings for the cook-off on Saturday October 14 at Bury Market.
The competition is part of the Bury Food & Drink Festival celebrations sponsored by Bury’s World Famous Markets. Markets and Business Services Manager John Ayres said: ”As part of the celebrations we want to tell the world about what is arguably our greatest export: black pudding, come and have a go if you think you have what it takes to be crowned King or Queen of black puddings.”
The newly crowned champ will receive a weekend in London to visit the BBC Good Food Show on Sunday 12 November at Olympia London. Travel, accommodation and platinum show tickets are all included in the prize. Not only that, but they will also be treated to a gourmet dinner for two, with champagne reception, at Andrew Nutter’s very own restaurant, Nutters.
Councillor Mike Connolly said: “Food and shopping are the heart and soul of Bury; the food festival will be an extravaganza incorporating real wholesome food. It’s going to be a real treat.”
