Bury – Market of the Year 2006

Delegates of the Nabma Markets and Modern Living Seminar witnessed the announcement of Bury markets as Market of the Year for 2006. The judging panel led by sponsor Jeremy Bradin, KPR Midlink, praised the high quality and number of applications as received. Runner up was Chesterfield, with Staffordshire Moorlands, Belfast and Bradford as finalists.

The KPR Midlink sponsored award was presented to John Ayres of Bury Market by Thomasina Miers, BBC MasterChef 2005 with certificates to the runner up and finalists. Councillor Angela Newton, President of Nabma and a member of the judging panel praised the many markets who entered this first national competition “whilst we congratulate Bury for their success of their markets and their innovation we were also hugely impressed with the enthusiasm, commitment and good practice that can be witnessed on so many markets in the UK”. Nabma looks forward to the 2007 competition and building upon the interest and success of this years in overall competition.
