NABMA Training underway – book your place

Tuesday 11 April 2006

The first NABMA training event on Market Law, Street Trading and Trader Disputes was held yesterday at Leicester. Led by NABMA Chief Executive, Graham Wilson an excellent day was enjoyed by delegates. The wide ranging programme looked at many aspects of market law and an interactive day enabled numerous questions, issues and concerns to be voiced. The delegates, from across a wide section of local authority departments, shared experiences and problems thereby providing for a positive learning and networking opportunity. The event demonstrated the clear demand for training on market matters that NABMA is now working to meet.

NABMA Chief Executive Graham Wilson stressed the importance of gaining an understanding of market law which forms the basis of the day to day operation of town and city centre markets. "I do hope that elected Councillors and Market Directors and Managers will support the attendance of their staff for the 2 further training courses. It is also important for market staff to be encouraged to look at the NABMA website and to keep updated of the many changes and events taking place for the market sector"

Feedback from the Leicester event confirms its success and wide ranging interest. A delegate said "This was a first class course with lots of useful information and opportunity to raise matters with other market officers. We would certainly recommend to colleagues in other Councils."

Bookings are now being taken for the next 2 events on the Market Law theme. They are at Bradford and Derby – details in the training section at www.nabma.com

Make sure of places for your staff by making an early booking.
