Markets and Modern Living Seminar - Book Here Today

Tuesday 22 November 2005

Bookings are now coming in for the Nabma promoted Markets and Modern Living Seminar being held on 19th January 2006 at the Banqueting Suite, The Council House, Birmingham. Use the link in this story to make your booking.

The exciting and wide ranging programme will embrace the food agenda and promote and examine cultural understanding, modern marketing and the use of open space. The day will also look at recent research carried out that captures the extent of current market activity in the UK and the value-for-money aspect of food shopping at your local market.

The recent National Survey of Retail Markets indicated the importance of markets to the overall retail sector. Now we want to focus on various important elements of modern living and demonstrate how markets can play an important role. The seminar will assess the contribution markets can make to the food agenda and healthy eating and also demonstrate that through innovative projects markets can make a vital contribution to cultural development and understanding. The impact of information technology on markets will also be assessed with a showcase of a pilot study undertaken by Manchester City Council.

An exciting team of speakers have been invited who represent the industry, traders, Government and consumers. Confirmed speakers include:

Dr. Peter Garside - Director of Centre for Economic Research and Intelligence, Kingston University
Mike Tiddy - Category Manager, Fresh Produce and Nutrition
Billy Webster - Project & Development Manager, Manchester City Council
Malcolm Veigas - Director of Markets, Bradford
Joe Harrison - President, National Market Traders’ Federation
Graham Wilson - Chief Executive, NABMA
Gillian kynoch - Food and Health Co-ordinator, HISD
Government Office for the West Midlands

The Seminar will also be used to announce the Nabma / KPR Midlink Market of the Year.
