During 2005 we have seen Nabma enter a new phase with the creation of a new structure. I am very pleased with how the arrangements are working. The new website in particular has given Nabma a much more professional image and I have been encouraged to see the number of members who have used the website to publicise their various Christmas activities.

Early in January we have our one day seminar when we will announce Nabma’s Market of the Year. The seminar programme is one of the best we have produced and provides a varied programme about modern market issues. I hope I have the opportunity of meeting many of you on that occasion. The Market of the Year has stimulated a great deal of interest and I am looking forward to finding out the winner.

We are fortunate in being able to have Thomasina Miers, BBC MasterChef of the Year, to be with us on this occasion to present the award.

Next year provides many exciting opportunities for Nabma. We will be holding further training courses, promoting the proposed legislation on Unlawful Street Trading, strengthening our existing partnership arrangements and forging new ones and doing everything we can to help our members in raising the profile of markets.

I am delighted to serve as President during this period. I believe this is an exciting time for markets and Nabma has much to contribute to both local and national agendas. Thank you for your support in 2005. May I wish you and your markets a happy and prosperous Christmas and New Year.
