Bolton Market kicks off the New Year with its first Wellbeing health fair
last Saturday 7 January, local residents were invited to Bolton Market in a bid to help them become more healthy and active in 2012.
Linking to the markets Wellbeing Project which was launched last Autumn, the event was organised to showcase the range of free services available throughout the borough. From health walks and get active sessions, to health checks, advice on health issues and menu options.
The market has been working in partnership with NHS Bolton with The Wellbeing Project to encourage local residents to make small changes to become more healthy. The scheme has already introduced new shoppers to Bolton Market, by advising participants of how to shop and buy ingredients fresh from the market, and how to cook healthy meals with cookery sessions at the markets in-store demonstration kitchen.
Due to the success of this health fair and the number of local residents who attended a second health fair is booked to take place in March, and The Wellbeing Project has just started its second term with a new group of volunteers.
